Blogwatch #1
Published : 18/02/08
This is the first set of links to posts on other peoples blogs that I think have made some interesting reading. I have an ever increasing blogroll that I have in my Sage reader for Firefox; it's my main channel for keeping on top of all the current developments in the web design and SEO worlds and makes up my lunchtime and coffee break reads through the working week. So for what its worth I thought I'd start sharing the ones that I find useful/stimulating/interesting/insane.
Pick of the posts
Looking for open source CMS and portal software options
This is one of my favourite blogs; the article are always well informed and well written by Roger Johansson who is a Swedish web professional specialising in web standards, accessibility, and usability. This particular post request feedback from the world on several poplular Content Management Systems/Frameworks inclduing my own fave MODx. The article got a huge response (including a rave about MODx from myself) and an interesting discussion about the relative pros and cons of each of the systems. Definately worth a read if you're trying to decide which one to go for. Obviously though, IMHO there is no choice....
Common Reasons a Website is Unsuccessful
Toplist of website failure reasons from Vandelay Design. Lots of this rings true from my days of e-business advising at the Digital Development Unit. The general consensus from there over the top reason for a site failing was in regard to site owners not getting to grips with the main idea behind content management systems i.e. its a system that enables you to effectively manage your website content; it won't actually do it for you.
The Elements of Design Applied to the Web
Not strictly recent but I've only just come across Aestheria so I have some catch up to do here. Top blog, top post.
