The Applied Knowledge Research Institute was the highly respected and industry valued research and development unit of Blackburn College specialising in Knowledge Structure mapping and Intelligent Systems.
In 2005 Blackburn College closed the unit due to financial pressures. As Research Assistant at the Unit since 1996, Funzig owner Lee Jorgensen designed, developed and maintained the site using W3C web standards. Since the unit closed the site has been used by Dr John L Gordon as a home for his new company Applied Knowledge Research and Innovation .
Design brief
Recently (August 2006) a new business facing site has been developed in order to focus on John's commercial projects. It is intended that the original AKRI site at http://www.akri.org be stripped of it's commercial references and be redeveloped as a repository for the more factual articles contained on the site using the "Knowledge Museum " subsite as a development model.
